When comparing what you see in your traffic source with what ClickFlare has recorded, it’s important to understand how conversion timestamps are reported

Key Point

Events in ClickFlare are stored in Logs and displayed based on visit time by default. This can affect how you see conversions when filtering by date in the Logs section.

Example:
If you’re using Visit Timestamp and checking the campaign on the dashboard

  • A user visits your campaign on December 2, 2024, at 10:44:32 AM.

  • The conversion happens later, on December 5, 2024, at 11:11:11 AM.

  • If your report is filtered for December 5 only, this conversion will not appear because it is attributed to the visit date (December 2).

  • To see this conversion, you would need to include December 2 in your report. (or you can switch the reporting to Postback Timestamp)

Postback Timestamp

If you switch to Postback Timestamp, conversions are reported based on the time the event was sent back to ClickFlare, not the visit time.

Example:

Using the same scenario above, the conversion would now appear on December 5, 2024, at 11:11:11 AM, making it easier to correlate with your traffic source reports.

How to Switch Timestamp Settings

  1. Go to the Settings Menu (gear icon, top right).

  2. Under General Settings, find the Conversion Registration Time Reporting section.

  3. Choose either:

    • Visit Timestamp – conversion tied to the visit time.

    • Postback Timestamp – conversion tied to when it was sent back.

  4. Click Save.

Tip for Comparing Traffic Source Data

  • When comparing conversions with your traffic source, ensure you’re looking at the Postback Timestamp in the dashboard to match what was sent.

  • Use the dashboard to filter and check specific conversion events.

  • If a visit occurred yesterday but was converted today, check yesterday’s visit date if using Visit Timestamp.
