Adding Snapchat Conversion API Integration

By using ClickFlare’s Conversion API for Snapchat Ads, you’ll be able to report conversion events from ClickFlare back to Snapchat Ads through Snapchat's conversion reporting API. This process is similar to using server-to-server postbacks, but even easier.

Why should I use the Conversion API for Snapchat Ads?

The tracking limitations introduced by Apple with iOS 14 and 14.5, through its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, have restricted the tracking capability of website tracking pixels. These restrictions have led to an underreporting of conversions and, consequently, limited the optimization capabilities of Snapchat Ads’ algorithm. To address these limitations, Snapchat Ads has provided a Conversion API endpoint where you can report conversion events.

What you'll need for the integration:

  • An active Snapchat Account
  • An active ClickFlare Account
  • Snapchat Pixel ID and Access Token

Where to Find Snapchat Conversion API Information

I. Pixel ID

Follow these steps to find your Pixel ID:

  1. Navigate to your Snapchat Events Manager.

  2. You will see all your pixels listed. Your Pixel ID is located in the ID field, right under the pixel's name. Copy the Pixel ID and store it somewhere safe, as you will need it during the integration with ClickFlare.

II. Conversion API Token (Access Token)

To generate your Snapchat Access Token for server-side tracking, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Snapchat Ads Manager.
  2. Navigate to the Business Dashboard.

  3. From the left menu, click on Business Details.
  4. Scroll down to the Conversions API Tokens' section and click on Generate Token.

Note: Unlike other traffic sources, the Conversion API Token is generated at the account level. Therefore, you don't need to create a new one for each new pixel.
  5. Copy your new Conversion API Token.

Integrating Snapchat Conversion API in ClickFlare

Follow the steps below to add Snapchat Conversion API:

  1. Enter the Settings menu (gear icon on the upper right corner) inside ClickFlare.
  2. Go to the Integrations tab.
  3. In the Conversion API Integrations section, click on Add Integration.

  4. Select Snapchat from the list of available integrations.

  5. In the integration screen, click on Add a new Pixel.

  6. Give your pixel a name and paste the Pixel ID and Conversion API Token you copied earlier.

  7. Define the Action Source. As per Snapchat's requirements, you need to define the action source of the events that will be posted to Snapchat. For example, select Website if the collected data is coming from a website or landing page, or select App if the data has been collected on an App, etc.

  8. Specify which ClickFlare tracked events are going to be posted on Snapchat.

Using the Event Type Mapping, you can map ClickFlare tracked events to specific Standard Snapchat events or custom ones of your choice. Click here to learn more about how to create custom events.

  9. Now that you have mapped the main events that will be reported to Snapchat, define what information you want to send to Snapchat CAPI along the main events.

As you may see in the screenshot below, the configuration includes a few grayed-out fields. This means that the information is sent to Snapchat CAPI by default. However, if you want to add more information to each event you report to Snapchat CAPI, you can do so by adding it to the Event Data Configuration. See the example below.

Note: Some parameters are required from the Traffic Source and can not be changed or deleted.

  10. Once you have completed all the configurations, click on Save. You’ll see the new integration appear under the Conversion API Integrations section.
